IPAZIA CAN FLY- THE WIA MENTORING PROGRAMME
Mentoring is fundamental for careers progression and professional developments for both genders but research shows that in general it is not common between women. For years the common idea was that space was too challenging for a woman and men just help other men to get the leader positions.
WIA intends through the programme IPAZIA CAN FLY give members a reference point for advising and guidance and a direct access to networks.
Hypatía was a scholar from Alexandria who lived between 370 and 415 A.D. She is considered the first notable woman in mathematics, who also taught philosophy and astronomy. She was a philosopher but mostly lived as a teacher and in a certain sense represents the first example of woman mentor in Europe.
The main idea of the programme is to diffuse a mentor culture pushing members to share experiences in order to increase their visibility and opportunities, to pursuit goals, to obtain upgrading of their careers and to support beginners.
IPAZIA CAN FLY is essentially based on formation and information.
Information- how to write a curriculum, to whom address it, about the first steps, and so on.
Formation- careers in research, space science, robotics, high technology, industrial management …..
