Dear WIA-E members,
we are pleased to share with you the following ESA invitation.
“Dear Sir or Madam,
ESA’s Education Office has recently launched the calls for applications for two training session opportunities to be held beginning of the second semester of 2018 at ESA Academy’s new Training and Learning Facility in ESEC-Galaxia, Belgium: the Ladybird Guide to Spacecraft Operations 2018 and the Earth Observation Satellite System Design Training Course 2018. Please find more information about these two opportunities for university students below.
Ladybird Guide to Spacecraft Operations Training Course 2018:
ESA’s Education Office is offering 30 university students the opportunity to participate in the third edition of the Ladybird Guide to Spacecraft Operations Training Course and to learn about the fascinating world of spacecraft operations. This 4-day course without excessive mathematics or technical jargon will take place between 11 and 14 September 2018 and will show students how ‘driving’ a spacecraft is different from designing it.
- Open to: Bachelor, Master and PhD engineering and physics students.
- Application Deadline: 27 July 2018

Earth Observation Satellite System Design Training Course 2018:
ESA’s Education Office is looking for 30 highly motivated engineering Master’s and PhD students to participate in the Earth Observation Satellite System Design Training Course 2018. This pilot training course will be held from 1 to 5 October 2018 and will equip the students with knowledge about the end-to-end design of an EO satellite system. The students will then be able to put into practice what they learn through a group project, composed of a challenging series of group exercises which form a step-by-step observation system design project.
- Open to: Master and PhD engineering students.
- Application Deadline: 13 August 2018
