WIA-Europe Rome: From STEM to Stars with Anthea Comellini

Join the next WIA-E Rome episode of “From STEM to Stars” webinar series on December 13th! Our special guest will be Anthea Comellini, GNC Engineer at Thales Alenia Space who was selected to be one of the two Italians to become part of the ESA astronaut reserve in 2022.

The event will take place on the Zoom platform from 19:00 to 20:00 (CET). The official language of the event is English.

Anthea earned her bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering from Politecnico di Milano, Italy, in 2014. In 2017, she completed a MSc in space engineering with Politecnico di Milano and ISAE-SUPAERO (France) as part of a double degree programme. Anthea earned a doctorate in autonomous navigation for space rendezvous from ISAE-SUPAERO in cooperation with Thales Alenia Space in 2021. After completing her doctorate, she worked as a flight dynamics engineer in orbit determination for interplanetary missions with ESA’s European Space Operations Centre ESOC in Darmstadt. From September 2022, Anthea has been working as a GNC (Guidance, Navigation, and Control) engineer in the research and development department at Thales Alenia Space in Cannes, France. She is a member of the European Space Agency astronaut reserve since November 2022.

During the event, she will talk about her brilliant career path, from her academic and work accomplishments as space engineer to the selection as ESA astronaut reserve. In the last part of the webinar, there will be a Q&A session to allow everyone to directly interact with Anthea!

The moderator of the event is Alessia Gloder, CEO of Astradyne and member of the WIA-E Rome Committee.
