Head of Research

Dr. Marcelle A. Laliberté is Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer at HEC Paris and an academic researcher specializing in AI governance, STEM equity, and the space sector. Recognized by the United Nations as an expert on gender and AI ethics, she served on the UN Secretary-General’s High-Level Advisory Body on Artificial Intelligence, shaping global frameworks for equitable technology adoption. She is also a member of DIVERIS, the European Commission’s Space and Defence Industry Diversity Network, advancing inclusion across deep-tech ecosystems. Her research examines systemic barriers to gender equity in STEM and aerospace, bridging insights from education, organizational behaviour, and policy reform. With forthcoming publications on gender and innovation in the new space economy (Oxford University Press), she brings academic rigor to applied change. A former Canadian naval officer, she combines operational leadership with scholarly expertise. As incoming Head of Research for WIA-Europe, she will advance cross-sector studies on gender, governance, and innovation.
