WIA-E announces winners of the Student and Young Professional Awards 2019

We are pleased to announce the winners of the WIA-E Student Award and Young Professional Award 2019.

  • Winner of the WIA-E Student Award 2019

Veronica Bandini is currently studying aerospace engineering at “Sapienza” University of Rome. The jury found in Veronica’s application a clear motivation to contribute to outreach and space education for young girls and boys alike. What also made Veronica’s profile stand out is her altruistic use of the grant, with which she plans to help her team mates in the REXUS-BEXUS Programme be part of the launch campaign at Esrange in Sweden next October.

  • Winner of the WIA-E Young Professional Award 2019

Aloisia Russo is a MSc student in Space Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano (Italy), focusing on re-entry subsystems. Next to her academic achievements, the jury appreciated Aloisia’s proactive organisation of a STEM awareness event in her home town, which she is planning to bring to other cities, as well as her co-authorship of a paper on Gender Equality in the European and Italian Space Sectors, which was presented at IAC 2018 in Bremen.

Congratulations to both!
