WIA-Europe Austria Regional Network attended the 65th UNCOPUOS Legal Subcommittee in Vienna, Austria.

The Women in Aerospace Europe Austria Regional Network participated in the 65th session of the United Nations Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer Space Legal Subcommittee (UNCOPOUS), held in Vienna from 15 to 22 April 2026. In attendance were Sundas Syed, Austria RN leader, and Sofia Ivlieva, Austria RN Communications Lead.

As a permanent observer, WIA-Europe continues to contribute to international discussions on space governance and the peaceful uses of outer space.

During sessions, the delegation gained valuable insights into international space law and multilateral cooperation, while engaging with fellow observers and delegates. Highlights included an inspiring exchange with Ulpia Elena Botezatu, as well as discussions with Dr Rudolf Albrecht and David Schumann, who shared perspectives from their extensive experience in space programs and policy.

Sofia also had the opportunity to meet Russian cosmonaut Sergey Prokopyev during the event.

This participation reflects WIA-Europe’s commitment to fostering dialogue, collaboration, and inclusion within the global space community.
